Death brings some families closer, but it’s ripped mine apart. I wanted to convince the police that they had the wrong suspect...but I never expected them to start suspecting me. Now, I have no choice but to keep searching for the truth, even if all my relationships fall to pieces around me.
Someone is trying to make me look guilty. I never thought my mission to prove my own innocence would lead me to more family secrets. I thought I had already discovered the truth about myself. But every answer raises more questions, and everything I think I know is about to change...again.
I have to find the truth, no matter how much it hurts -- before I get charged with murder.

After reading Justice (Deck of Lies #1), I was completely blow away by the complexity of the story. The lies. The twists. The phenomenal writing that is Jade Varden. It kept me completely engrossed and hanging on until the very end. The Tower has all that, plus more. It was even better than it’s predecessor. I was completely blown away. Ten fold.
Again, I applaud Jade. These books are short (to my standing, anyway) Sitting at under 200 pages. Yet, her writing is so outstanding, you can’t help but get sucked into Rain’s story. Everything was summarized nicely from the previous book, reminding me of the details without info dump. Let’s be real; there was a lot to remember. It’s rapidly paced, like the first, never giving you time to recover before something else is revealed. Once again leaving you reeling. I like how throughout the book, we get these little flashes of Rain in the future. There aren’t scenes, it’s more like her reflecting on everything that’s happened. Example, “How naive we both were, back then. How foolish were those two young people […]” We are discovering everything WITH Rain, yet we also get these from time to time of how things have changed her and who she is AFTER. Makes sense?
As Rain begins her own search for the killer, she soon discovers that NOTHING is what is seems. Uncovering more lies, she discovers just how little she actually knows about her family and those around her. Her life is again, turned upside down. I honestly thought nothing would surprise me. Yeah.. not the case. As more lies are exposed, revealing such deceit it seriously makes you questing the sanity of everyone involved. Once you think you know a character or what’s really going on, something else happens and it makes you question EVERYTHING.
Through it all; Rain has pretty much toughened up all around. She’s strong, determined and she is starting to fight back. Several thoughts of leaving have crossed her mind, with good reason, but she never did. She isn’t giving up and she is willing to put herself in the spot light and in danger, to protect who she cares about and prove River’s innocence. I was slightly irritated about some things that she did, or rather didn’t do. Then again, she can’t really trust anybody, so it does make sense that she would keep practically everything to herself.
We are also introduced to a few more characters, while others from the previous book took a back seat. Again, I questioned why we have all these people hanging out in the back ground, with only having brief contact with Rain. Understanding came later, YET AGAIN, since there are so many freakin people involved in this cluster F of a story. I really shouldn’t question why. I should question what and who. What role they play? Who are they connected to? Who have they deceived? Like I said, you can’t help but to question everyone and everything. Cliff hanger ending too! BUT! *sing song voice* I think I know who the killer is….
Overall~ LOVED.IT. Mind blowing, insane twists that will keep you on edge and second guessing everything! I highly recommend this series!
