Paradise quickly gets gruesome in this thrilling page-turner with a plot that’s ripped from the headlines and a twist that defies the imagination. It’s Spring Break of senior year. Anna, her boyfriend Tate, her best friend Elise, and a few other close friends are off to a debaucherous trip to Aruba that promises to be the time of their lives.
But when Elise is found brutally murdered, Anna finds herself trapped in a country not her own, fighting against vile and contemptuous accusations. As Anna sets out to find her friend’s killer, she discovers harsh revelations about her friendships, the slippery nature of truth, and the ache of young love.
Awaiting the judge’s decree, it becomes clear to Anna that everyone around her thinks she is not only guilty, but also dangerous. And when the whole story comes out, reality is more shocking than anyone ever imagined...
My initial response (and final update on Goodreads) after finishing….
What did I just read?! Seriously. What, the hell, was that?!
*Warning. Vague and flailing review to come*
I remember a few months back, all my close blogger friends were reading and then raving about Dangerous Girls. It was one of those that I knew I would probably love, but didn’t want to disappoint anyone if I didn’t. Weird, right? So, after getting it for Christmas from Chelsea, I thought “Why not?”.
Okay, so first of all; this book is INSANE. Intense, biting my nails, blaming every.person.mentioned for the events that transpired and staying up all night to think about– insane. As Dani said, “This book is a complete mind f*ck!”
Thanks take a breather for a minute, mm’kay? And discuss this writing. It’s Amazing. I love how the whole story was executed (BAHA see what I did there?!) We see Anna in prison, on trial and the past, as well. Usually, this bugs the ever loving shit out of me, but it was just so well done!
I wont lie, Dangerous Girls was hard to read at times. Not in a sad way, but… In an– “I can’t believe that just happened.” or “I will punch someone in the face”, kind of way. I was so shocked about all the tampering, lying, betrayal and everything else that came along. I love you all, my friends. I just feel like I need to get that out.
It’s hard to really get into any details about the characters and plot. There is SO much to talk about yet at the same time, I can’t because there are a lot of potential spoilers. SO, that being said…
The ending. Whew, y’all.. I don’t even know.
My Peeve- Nothing. Not a damn thing bugged me about this.
Overall- I loved, Loved LOVED it. Solid & strong writing, complex, compelling and just… completely insane. READ.IT.
