She was off limits,
But he couldn't resist.

There are just some guys you don't touch--even someone as innocent and inexperienced as Ella Shaw knows that. But when her brother's best friend is up for grabs and willing, she can't resist. After all, she's wanted him for years...

On leave from the army, Tyler Dare is just looking for a little fun, but his best friend's sister is off limits. Yet unable to deny how sexy and alluring she is, he finds it all too easy to succumb to a night of passion and heat that ends the next morning in the worst way possible.

Now, Ella is stranded on a tropical island with a hurricane bearing down, and only Tyler can save her. It's his chance to make amends for the past and show the woman he's never forgotten that he's coming after her . . . in more ways than one.

I received this book for free from The Publicist in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

My Thoughts:

*side note, the synopsis is wrong. It’s the best friend’s brother, not brother’s best friend. WEIRD it’s written like that.

Being that this was the 6th book in the series, I was slightly hesitant to read it, even though it’s one of those series where each book can be read as a standalone. And while I wasn’t “lost” on any of the details per se, I do wish I would have read the previous 5 books, if not to at least know all the characters. That, and their stories and names started to blend after some time.

Moving on. Dare to Take at its core is a romance novel. However, there is an underlining subplot of mystery focused around Ella, a mugging, and stalkerish behavior. I did feel like while this drove a lot of what the characters did, it was in the background as white noise to me.

I adored the romance build up between Tyler and Ella. I understand Ella’s hesitations to let someone in, especially Tyler and their past endeavors. Tyler has always felt like a runner and has hesitations about a relationship with anyone, let alone Ella. That is until they are in close quarters. They have undeniable chemistry, and it was just fun seeing these two fall harder for each other. Their moments together were HOT too, so bonus. 😉

My only gripe – I wasn’t a fan of how often their past was referenced or summarized. I’m a reader that only needs to be “told” something once, so the constant summary of Ella and Tyler’s past when it came to their parents, upbringing and one drunken night were rather frustrating.

All in all – It’s fun, quick and sweet read and rather enjoyed it as a whole. For it being such a short novel, I was wholly invested in their story. I recommend it if you’re looking for a fun, sweet romance!
